Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine was born the 1st of June 1974. She was born in Ottawa, Canada. Alanis' Greek name is an feminine form of her father's name: Alan. Her mother's name is Georgia and she has two brothers, Chad and Wade (Alanis' Twin). She learned to play the piano in her early years, aged 6 and the guitar at the age of 21. In 1986, Alanis recorded a hit single, Fate Stay With Me (b-side: Find The Right Man). Her albums were recorded as a dance-pop artist in Canada: Alanis (1991) and This Is The Time (1992). Her move to Toronto when she turned 18 and began working with music and writers, but these partnerships didn't pan out. In 1994, she discovered the perfect partner in music producer and songwriter Glen Ballard, who had collaborated with several artists including Aretha Franklin Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. After moving to LA She turned 19 in the year 1994. Madonna's Maverick Records released the song "Jagged Little Pill" in June 13th, 1995. Alanis's songs were autobiographical. JLP has sold about 30 million copies all over the globe. It has become the top selling female album, and also the third most popular album all times.
